Join us as a Director of Development and lead a team of skilled engineers in building the next generation of cloud-native, microservices-based applications. This is a critical leadership role where you will be responsible for driving technical excellence, team performance, and delivering on an ambitious roadmap.

The role

As the Director of Development in Stibo DX, you will lead a team of 14 engineers, primarily based in Malaga, while working from Aarhus or Hamburg. Frequent travel to Malaga is expected to ensure close collaboration and alignment.

You will report directly to the CTO and play a crucial role in building and scaling a high-performance engineering team.

We are strengthening and modernizing our platform to make it fully cloud-native, leveraging AWS services, event-driven architectures, and microservices as the foundation for all future products. This role requires both strong technical acumen and proven leadership experience to ensure that the engineering team executes efficiently and effectively from the start.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the development team, ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and technology vision.
• Build and lead a high-performance engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Drive the execution of an ambitious development roadmap, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery of software products.
• Ensure the adoption of best practices in software development, including security, observability, and scalable architectures.
• Work closely with the CTO and the rest of the development leadership team to define and refine technology strategies.
• Develop and mentor engineers, ensuring professional growth and high levels of engagement.
• Maintain strong collaboration with teams across different locations, ensuring seamless communication and alignment.
• Oversee the hiring, onboarding, and retention of top engineering talents.
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Technical background, having worked as a software engineer before transitioning into leadership roles.
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience managing software engineers, with a strong track record of building and leading high-performance teams.
• Proven experience delivering cloud-native applications, preferably on AWS.
• Strong understanding of modern software development methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to drive alignment across distributed teams.
• Ability to travel frequently to Malaga to ensure team cohesion and effective collaboration.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
